"A little background information on the Jewish Cemetery (Congregation Montefiore), in Marinette, Wisconsin.

The Jewish People of Marinette purchased an acre of land east of Forest Home Cemetery, in 1891. The Congregation maintained this cemetery until 1975. Members of the Congregation had left the area, relocating to places such as Iron Mountain, Michigan, and Chicago, Illinois.

The 'Association' and the City of Marinette entered into an agreement July 30, 1975. The agreement authorized the City of Marinette to provide the necessary maintenance, and provide for the burial of members of the Jewish faith, who desired to return here for burial.

Burials continue through this day, even though there are only a few of the faith remaining in the area."
