The Rohatyner Young Men's Society: Chartered in N.Y by people from town of Rohatin, Galicia, about 70 kilometers SE of Lvov/Lemburg, known today as Rogatin, Ukraine. This immigrant landsmanshaften organized primarily for social reasons, for mutual assistance in a new land, and functioned as a burial society. All the gravesites are sold. ({10806}: The names are of those buried in the landsmanshaften's plot in Mt. Hebron.) The source of information is Alvin Edelstein, the Cemetery Chairman of the Rohatyner Young Men's Society. Alvin inherited this position from his late father-in-law, who held it for over fifty years. All the minutes of Rohatyner meetings of the first 50 years, or so, were meticulously handwritten (in Yiddish) and preserved, and were given to YIVO (Institute for Jewish Research, New York, NY.) for their use and further preservation.
