The Congregations of Beth Jacob in Lewiston and Beth Abraham in Auburn were established in the 1920's. A more-informal place of prayer and religious education preexisted these. In 1981, Beth Jacob congregation merged with the Community Center: The Temple Shalom Synagogue-Center. Both Temple Shalom and Beth Abraham are conservative. [February 2010]
