Kol Shalom Cemetery: Jewish Community Cemetery of Marin: within Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, 2500 Fifth Avenue, San Rafael, CA 94901 (415-459-2500). Used by Congregation Kol Shofar, 215 Blackfield Drive, Tiburon, California 94920 (415-388-1818). Congregation Kol Shofar was established in San Rafael in 1962 and is Conservative. The congregation currently is housed in a contemporary synagogue in Tiburon near the resort town of Sausalito. The cemetery of the congregation was dedicated May 20, 1989. At the time of indexing in January 1997, some new burial locations were unmarked. Many observe the custom of waiting a year before setting up a marker or tombstone. Sha'arei Shalom Cemetery: {10603} within Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, 2500 Fifth Avenue, San Rafael, CA 94901; (415-459-2500). Used by Congregation Rodef Sholom, 170 North San Pedro Road, San Rafael, California 94903; (415-479-3441). The current synagogue was built in 1962 and is located on the Marin Jewish Community Campus next to the Bernard Osher Marin Jewish Community Center. Rodef Sholom is Reform. The one-acre site is hilly terrain and affords a beautiful view. Dedication of the first Jewish cemetery in Marin County took place in August 1989. Both upright and flat markers are used. There is a section for the burial of cremated remains. A large above ground mausoleum was under construction in 1997. A large section for future expansion of the burial grounds existed.
