Zernsdorf is a village in Dahme-Spreewald, Brandenburg and since 2003 part of the city of Königs Wusterhausen. The population is approximately 2,900. Situated SE of Berlin on the banks of three lakes: Krüpelsee, Lankensee and Ukleisee. The main part of Königs Wusterhausen lies about 5km W; the state capital, Potsdam, is about 40km NW. From 1965 to 2003 Zernsdorf was divided into three administrative districts: Zernsdorf, Uklei and Kablow-Ziegelei. The 40 member Jewish community in the town disappeared during the Holocaust. The Nazis built a concentration camp for Jews and Poles at the railway station in 1944. [August 2012]
