ShtetLink. In the inter-war period, the economy suffered making those remaining required to depend on money from relatives who had emigrated. 60 artisans from watchmakers to photographers lived here as three Jewish doctors, one Jewish lawyers, one pharmacists, and the owner of the electric works, a mill, and a sawmill suffered from the bad economy on the eve of WWII. The first Town Council had eleven Jewish members, a Jewish mayor, and a Jewish assistant mayor. with representation dropping due to emigration to three Jewish members and Jewish vice-mayor. CEMETERY: Jewish Cemetery is in the grounds of a school and mostly covered by it. Jossel Bunker collected one hundred gravestones, most legible. UPDATE: Two nearby shtetlakh: Kol, 18 km.away, and Plotl, 20 km. away purportedly used the cemetery from the 1600s. Supposedly, a burial register existed to support that claim. [March 2009]
