The Jewish community in town dates from about 1900 when the unlocked cemetery began. No other towns used this site. The town is an old gold mining town that once had 8,000 people in 1900 and now has about 140. The nearest Jewish community is in Perth 700 kilometers away. The Shire maintains the site with two graves. The rural outback mining community location is flat ground within the municipal cemetery. Reached by turning directly off a public road, access is open to all and marked by a sign. The still active cemetery has a continuous wire fence and an unlocked gate.
