Highland Cemetery aka Highland Park Cemetery: A Jewish section of Highland Cemetery, located at the corner of Hillside and 11th Street or the NW corner of 9th and Hillside Sts., contains many of the early Jewish graves in Wichita as well as those of the Reform congregation.

Termed "The Resting Place of Pioneers", the "original" burying ground here in Wichita has Jewish section administered by the Temple Emanu-El. The Jewish section of Highland Park Cemetery dates back to the 1870's. Dan Morgan has the records for the Jewish area of the Highland Park Cemetery. P.O. Box 1184, Wichita, KS 67201, (316) 267-5501 [answering service]. Information regarding Jewish burials is also available from Downing & Lahey Mortuary, 6555 E. Central, Wichita KS 67206 (316-682-4553). They handle most of the burial services for the Jewish community. See "Jewish Cemetery, Frisco Heights", p.188 in Postal & Koppman Jewish Tourist's Guide to U.S. Phila., PA: Jewish Publ. Soc., 1954.

Highland Park has been taken over by the Wichita Park Dept. The previous administration was by Quiring Monument/Mortuary that could not afford to maintain the site.
