NOTES:
-
Prior to having their own cemetery, the Hüttenheim Jewish community used the burial ground in Rödelsee. In November 1816 the communities of Hüttenheim, jointly with those of Nenzenheim, Marktbreit, Bullenheim, Weigenheim and Dornheim acquired the present burial ground.
-
During the Nazi reign this cemetery was partially destroyed, with the mortuary being totally wrecked. The first case of desecration was reported in October 1935, when two youths uprooted 35 gravestones, smashing three of them. The cemetery was restored in 1950. A memorial stone was erected on this occasion to remember the victims of the Nazi tyranny.
-
The cemetery is extremely well maintained and is enclosed by a trellis-work fence with gate.
