Hilsbach is a formerly independent city in the south of the Rhine-Neckar district and since 1971 incorported in Sinsheim. :The Jewish community formed in the 17th century and existed until 1877. The Jewish quarter is a historically preserved quarters of the former Jewish community in Hilsbach that had a 19th century synagogue now replaced by an old farm building. The Jewish cemetery history. In 1743 five families lived there. (Moses Salomon, Salomon Loew, Loew Hart, Isay and Baruch Haart). They lived in poverty in the Jewish quarter as one of the poorest Jewish communities in Baden. Snce 1827, they were part of the Bezirksrabbinat Sinsheim and buried their dead in the Jewish cemetery in Waibstadt . The Jewish community had a prayer room and a mikvah..After the dissolution of the Jewish community in 1877, Hilsbach remaining Jews belonged to the Jewish community in Sinsheim .[Feb 2013]
