- Old Town Square, between Wood Street [Holzstrasse] and Cathedral Street [Münsterstrasse] , today's Kuopio Square. Used 1743 - 193. 59 visible gravestones. From 1938 - 1945 many gravestones have been destroyed by war damage. In 1966 a scheduled restoration of the stones was done by the cemetery office. According to Schneider, in 1982, 47 gravestone inscriptions were illegible. photo. photo. [Sept 2012]
- WEBSITE with photo: The Jewish Cemetery on the Upper Münsterstraße is not in good condition. Gisbert Baranski says the old gravestones says are barely visible, because the terrain is almost completely overgrown. The dedicated local historian disagrees. At the cemetery, where the last funeralwas held in 1939, boasts old gravestones with Hebrew inscriptions. Althoughtwo Jewish associations, Rhineland and Westphalia-Lippe, gave binding commitments regarding the maintenance of the cemeteries, unfortunately the National Association of Westphalia-Lippe in Dortmund is the owner of the cemetery and not consulted in the agreement. nGisbert Baranski believes Castrop-Rauxel grants and the federal government maintenance of the historic site should be done. A few months ago [before Sep 2012] a violent storm had knocked some old grave stones, which were still not back up. See comments on the site. [Sep 2012]
