• On the east side and within the general Westfriedhof on Westliche Ringstrasse and Gerolfinger Str. (Detail).

IN USE:

• From 1891 until 1949, including a few concentration camp survivors who had been transferred to a nearby displaced person camp.

NOTES:

• Immediately prior to having their own burial ground in 1891 this long established Jewish community, dating back to the Middle Ages, used the cemetery in Hainsfahrt. Prior to that time, the cemetery in Regensburg is assumed to have been used for burials.

• A memorial stone commemorates named fallen Jewish soldiers from WW1 as well as the Ingolstadt Jewish victims who were murdered during the Nazi epoch.

• The interior of the mortuary was completely demolished by Nazi gangs during the November 1938 pogroms.

• The Jewish cemetery is a separate cemetery within the non-Jewish Westfriedhof. It is enclosed on 3 sides by a very well preserved stone wall with a locked gate. Access to the Jewish section of the cemetery only with keys from the cemetery administration office at the Westliche Ringstrasse. The cemetery is very well maintained in a park-like environment.
