The cemetery, used now only as a Jewish cemetery, was established in 1906 with the last known Jewish burial in 1979. The isolated cemetery, with no sign but with Jewish symbols on gate or wall, is located on flat land and is the same size as before 1939. Access is open with permission. The city of Fulda pays a regular caretaker to maintain the site. A continuous masonry wall and locking gate surround the cemetery where 100-500 headstones appear in original locations. The oldest headstone dates from 1906. The headstones have Hebrew and German inscriptions. Within the limits of the cemetery is a pre-burial house.

She did not visit the site. Ms. Linz has a copy of the German-language book mentioned above and will share information but does not read much German.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An incidental discovery led to fragments of ancient Jewish gravestones found leaning against the left outside wall of the Fulda Dom (Cathedral). At least one of the stones (photo 3 in the Source page linked below) allows the year of death to be established (335X in the Jewish calendar) or at the turn of the 16th / 17th century. The stones are now in very good and restored condition. The translation of the Hebrew inscription was made by Jennifer van Greft from Israel.
